      Spear’s Review

Known as ‘the school of kings’, Le Rosey educates many members of the global elite; alumni include Prince Rainier III of Monaco and the Prince and Princess of Bhutan.

One of the world’s most expensive schools, Le Rosey has two campuses for different seasons. Facilities in both are, as would be expected, extremely high quality. The summer site near Lake Geneva is geared towards summer sports such as tennis and swimming, while the winter months are spent in Gstaad, with skiing in the afternoons.

Le Rosey has a strict admissions process, stating that ‘even the most brilliant and well-qualified student with the “best” connections may not be admitted if there is no room’. The school accepts fewer than 100 students each year and upholds quotas on nationality and age to ensure a diverse community culture.

Upon graduating, Le Rosey’s students are given access to the contact details of the school’s illustrious alumni, a roll call which reads like a guest list for the most exclusive ambassadorial reception ever held.

      Academics

According to the school, over the last five years 100 per cent of IB students achieved the full diploma, with an average IB score of 36.0.

      Head teacher

Christophe Gudin has served as the school’s director general since 2015, succeeding his father, Philippe. Christophe is a former Le Rosey student himself and has previously worked at McKinsey, consulting in the pharmaceuticals, medical devices, telecommunication, social and NGO sectors.

      University and college destinations

The school reports that, each year, around 10 to 15 per cent of all students are accepted at one of the eight Ivy League schools, Stanford, MIT or Oxbridge.

      Admissions

Students are encouraged to apply as early as possible, from September for the following academic year. After completing an online admissions application and submitting their academic record and a medical report, students are invited to spend a day on campus, take entrance tests and attend interviews.
