St. James’s Place Private Clients is the HNW/UHNW arm of St. James’s Place. Our aim, together with our Partnership, is to be the UK’s leading source of trusted, tailored advice to Private Clients, offering a complete service delivered by experts. Currently, we advise on and manage over £25 billion of AuM for our Private Clients, across 8,000 wealthy families.

Managing wealth presents many common challenges. However, at the core of our Private Client service is an appreciation that our wealthiest clients often have a different set of motivations and ambitions. These can be far-reaching and complex, but always unique to each individual. We understand that our advice needs to be as individual as they are, designed to fit around lifestyle, family life, and business and professional interests.

St. James’s Place Private Clients and SJP Partners

Our model combines the experience and knowledge of a 40-strong central team of HNW specialists with the resources and nationwide reach of the SJP Partnership – a group of highly qualified professional advisers and their support staff.

SJP Partners have the autonomy and operational freedom to tailor their services to their particular clients, with the support of SJP’s head office functions. Many of them, whether large financial advice firms in their own right or small family practices, have chosen to specialise in HNW clients. Clients benefit from the strength and resources of a FTSE100 wealth management group, plus the highly client-centric and personalised approach of local advisers, who are free to build long-standing (often multi-generational) relationships with HNW clients. It also allows clients to select the right SJP Partner for them, based on their needs, and matching the expertise and service of individual Partners. 

St. James’s Place itself is the largest financial advice and wealth management group in the UK, with over £150 billion of AuM. Within this, the SJP Private Clients team is led by Paul Emery, Private Clients Director, and includes highly experienced specialists in HNW advice and wealth structuring, investments, banking, trust and legal and client servicing.

There is no ‘typical’ profile of an SJP Private Client. Accordingly, we’ve developed a proposition able to meet the complex requirements and goals of diverse clients – from helping young entrepreneurs unlock the potential in their businesses to wealthy families requiring intergenerational wealth planning. We also help our clients use their money as a force for good. Investing responsibly is about identifying opportunities that drive returns, mitigate risks, and have a positive impact on the world around us, without any of these outcomes compromising each other. This comprehensive range of financial products and services is aimed at meeting the diverse needs of our clients, and includes our own broad range of investment funds and portfolios, as well as a panel of over 100 third-party product providers. Beyond investments, this includes a full range of tax-efficient wrappers, advice on protection needs and mortgage needs, estate planning, charitable giving solutions, investment-backed lending, long-term care advice, cash savings solutions and a concierge service. 

Ultimately, the SJP Private Clients team empowers our specialist HNW and UHNW Wealth Manager Partners to deliver a first-class proposition for wealthy individual and families, centred on brilliant client outcomes through personalised advice and service solutions.
