David Gilmour, a chartered accountant and director who has previously overseen family office investments at NM Rothschild, founded Imperium Trust in 2011 to serve a wide variety of international HNWs.

Gilmour’s specialisms include complex tax structuring, pension planning and structuring property and bank financing. He utilises more than 15 years in the private client world to offer an array of services, from estate planning and tax to advising on structuring and offshore affairs.

Gilmour, who travels extensively for work and pleasure to destinations across EMEA and Asian regions, has organically acquired clientele from these locations, as well as a network of contacts in legal, advisory and banking sectors. Outside work, he enjoys reading history and studying financial markets, as well as enthusiastically supporting Scotland at football and rugby union.

David is the Managing Director of the Imperium Group. Headquartered in Guernsey, the Group was formed by David over 10 years ago with the establishment of Imperium Trust Company based in Guernsey. The success of the Trust Company over the last decade has seen client and employee numbers grow through organic and strategic growth. 

In recent years David has overseen the expansion of the Imperium Group to include fiduciary offices in both the UK and Jersey. More recently the Group has also expanded into Fund services, an offering that David has long been keen to explore; the Funds team sits in Guernsey alongside the original Trust. The Group today is 135 employees strong, with representation in the three key jurisdictions.
