Tom Harries set up Imperial Blue Finance alongside his brother, James, in 2012 ‘to invest alongside funds, family offices and HNW property investors in order to provide risk-adjusted debt and equity returns from the development sector’.
The niche Mayfair-based finance house has raised and structured over £400 million worth of funding for developers, according to its website.
‘We spotted a gap in the market once banks had pulled out following the recession,’ Harries says. ‘Developers had no access to capital, and the world of funds, family offices and HNWs was relatively unknown to them. Yet private investors were equally keen to invest in property development themselves, but had no route to market.’
