An expert on complex facial procedures, The London Clinic's Hugo Henderson tells Spear’s he’s among the few pioneers to marry plastic surgery techniques with specialist eye management procedures in the medical world. Henderson completed specialist training in ophthalmology at Moorfields Eye Hospital and has completed fellowships in the Chelsea and Westminster Hospital. He is currently based at The London Clinic in Harley Street. He is also a consultant specialising in oculoplastic service and direct referral cataract service at The Royal Free Hospital.
Hugo Henderson specialises in ophthalmic and reconstructive plastic surgery and cosmetic oculo-facial surgery. He is a consultant at the Royal Free Hospital managing complex facial surgery, is a member of the multi-disciplinary Sub-cranial Facial surgery team and runs the multi-disciplinary Thyroid Eye Disease clinic. He is a pioneer in this field, combining plastic surgery tissue management techniques including fat grafting with specialist eye management procedures.
He specialises in cosmetic eyelid surgery and brow lifts to enhance patients' vision as well as their appearance. His specialties include post-cancer reconstruction surgery, cosmetic facial surgery and lacrimal surgery including endoscopic and external dacryocystorhinostomy. He also runs quarterly webinars for both medical students and opticians.
He works across two private practices in London based in Harley Street and the King Edward VII hospital. Because of his excellent reputation, personal approach and his genuine patient relationship he often treats VIPs requiring discretion including actors, politicians and celebrities.
Hugo is actively involved in the development and mentoring of medical students and trains a full-time Clinical Fellow in Oculoplastic and Cataract surgery. He also lectures on the Plastic and Reconstructive Surgical MA course at University College London.
He is well known and respected by his peers and has been honoured to host the prestigious annual meeting of the British Oculoplastic Surgery Society 2017 in London. He is the honorary treasurer and past secretary of the Ophthalmology section of the Royal Society of Medicine.
