Janet Tobin
Spear’s Review
Janet Tobin has always been a litigator, gaining her first experience at Lyons Davidson and then Taylor Wessing. She told Spear’s: ‘I was really lucky that the firm I qualified into was very willing to allow me to gain that really fundamental, really important experience of seeing the positive sides of putting a transaction together as well as dealing with the fallout.’
Now a partner and head of the private commercial litigation team at Mishcon de Reya, Tobin works with high- and ultra-high-net-worth individuals and families, continuing her work on disputes – often involving a number of jurisdictions and fractious close relationships – without diluting the value of the assets or the business.
She said: ‘I think, fundamentally, I just like solving problems. And there’s nothing better than a business that you know is really properly governed, where people are held accountable.’
