Spear's Review

James Pavey is the head of Irwin Mitchell’s rural business & enterprise team in the UK, which covers a wide range of matters concerning rural landholdings, HNW and institutional landowners. He has considerable litigation expertise in both public law and private law cases and spends most of his time with property transaction matters, with a particular focus on ‘unlocking the development of land’.

Pavey increasingly spends his time performing the role of a trusted adviser, whether as a trustee or a principal adviser to trustees, or as a go-to partner for clients on all transactional matters.

Outside work, he is a member of the CLA’s Legal, Parliamentary and Property Rights Committee and a past president of the Cambridge University Land Society.

His own specialism is resolving difficult trust, property and land use problems, whether in negotiations behind closed doors or in the Supreme Court – and in many different fora in-between.
