Previously an in-house lawyer with megayacht specialists Blohm+Voss, Michael Baumhauer is now head of practice area projects at international law firm Taylor Wessing, where he helps UHNWs (and their suppliers) on megayacht new-builds, conversions, refits and repair projects. Once such engagement saw Baumhauer work on Roman Abramovich’s 162.5-metre vessel Eclipse, the second-biggest superyacht in the world. (The work was carried out long before Abramovich was subject to Western sanctions.)

‘With a bespoke megayacht,’ Baumhauer previously told Spear's, ‘it’s not only about the purchase, but leading the HNW client through what is a very technically complex construction project that can last for 24 to 36 months on average’.
