Carmine Di Sibio

Spear’s Review

As the global chair and CEO of Ernst & Young, Carmine Di Sibio heads up one of the largest professional services firms in the world, which employs 350,000 people scattered across 150 countries, and is the central figure in plans to break it up.

The plan - codenamed Project Everest internally - is considered so important that Di Sibio was granted a two-year extension to the firm's strict retirement age of 60 in order to get it finished. Its rocky progress and whether or not it comes to fruition will determine Di Sibio's legacy across the entire accountancy profession.

Di Sibio, whose parents migrated to the US from Italy when he was just three years old, has recently launched a new storytelling campaign by the firm called ‘Uplift’, where co-workers from across the business can share stories of how they overcame barriers to thrive in their careers.

He studied at New York’s Colgate University – he now sits on the institution's board of trustees – and has an MBA from NYU’s Stern School of Business. He first joined EY in 1985.
