As head of residential (MEA & India) for JLL, Will McKintosh sources UK properties for international buyers across the region. In this role he works closely with colleagues from the firm’s extensive network of local offices, which include Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Riyadh, Jeddah, Al Khobar, Cairo and Casablanca. 

Like others in the field, he has observed how sterling’s relative weakness has created a window for opportunity for Middle Eastern investors, who are quickly returning to the capital after the pandemic. The firm’s data shows how, when you compare current levels with prices eight years ago, the typical dollar purchaser is paying 3.8 per cent less for a London property – while sterling buyers are paying 35 per cent more. 

Of course, the trend could easily change should the pound mount a recovery – hence McKintosh and his colleagues advising clients that now is the time to strike.
