AIRE Ancient Baths

Spear's Review

If you happen to be looking for an Andalusian-themed bathhouse on The Strand, turn in to Robert Street, adjacent to the Adelphi Terrace and head into the cavernous world of AIRE Ancient Baths, which is housed in the former wine cellars of Peter Pan creator J.M. Barrie – a celebrated previous resident of the 18th century neoclassical building.

The company that owns this spa chain is from Seville, if one wonders about the candlelit interiors and terracotta walls. The brand has branches in New York, Chicago and Copenhagen, and aims to create Roman baths hidden away in storied locations where you'd expect them the least. Once inside, expect to be whisked away into the massage rooms before you are given ample time to relax in the various baths, from the chilly frigidarium dips to the 'thousand jet' Balneum arena to the Flotarium with an exfoliation chamber.

Company Profile

AIRE spaces are temples dedicated to the relaxation of body and mind in which time does not exist. Inspired by the
tradition of baths from ancient Roman, Greek, and Ottoman civilisations, the AIRE Experience always takes place in
restored historical buildings in the centre of cities.

Taking water as the main element and creating an atmosphere of pure magic and sophistication around it, the AIRE
Experience is complemented by a careful selection of massages and exclusive rituals.

AIRE Experiences are exclusive to our locations and designed to achieve relaxation and tranquillity. Every AIRE
Experience includes our Ancient Baths – a tour of our baths of different temperatures and properties:

Tepidarium – our warm water bath is 36 degrees

Caldarium – our hot water bath is 40 degrees

Frigidariums – our cold water bath is 14 degrees, and our ice bath 10 degrees

Floatarium – a unique bath with a high salt content which allows you to float effortlessly. Also features a salt exfoliation

area

Bath of a thousand jets – a hydrotherapy jet bath

Vaporium – a steam room infused with mint and eucalyptus

All our massages and rituals use techniques and ingredients that have been used for centuries for their beneficial
properties.

AIRE Ancient Baths London is set in an 18th Century Townhouse tucked away from Covent Garden in the famed
Adelphi District. Originally designed by architect Robert Adam, it's an exceptional example of Neoclassical Architecture
which, much like AIRE, took great inspiration from the Greek and Roman empires. Later, this iconic townhouse would
be the home of JM Barrie, the author of Peter Pan.
