Robert Wiegold

Spear's Review

Robert Wiegold was an accountant before deciding to persue a career in financial services. Before joining Shard Capital he was an equity manager at SVS Securities, as well as being a member of the investment committee. During his time at the wealth manager, he has analysed hundreds of companies in order to successfully identify investment opportunities for his clients.

Wiegold, who is Level 6 qualified and a member of the Chartered Institute of Securities and Investment, is now an investment manager at Shard Capital, which offers investment, dealing and capital markets services to private, corporate and institutional clients.

Adviser Profile

Robert Wiegold started his career in the City in 2001 as an Accountant before moving into Financial Services. He joined Shard Capital in 2013, as a founder member of the stockbroking team.

The stockbroking service offers discretionary, advisory and execution only services, covering UK and international equities and collective investments. These include participations in listed company equity placements, fundraisings and IPOs. Where appropriate, clients are able to participate directly in company fundraisings ordinarily reserved for institutional investors, at institutional prices – often at significant discount to the prevailing market price. Not only does this overcome investor frustrations and level the playing field, but can also offer tax advantages.

During his career Robert has met and analysed hundreds of companies to successfully identify investment opportunities for his clients. In doing so, he helped establish Shard Capital's EIS Portfolio service which benefits from the team's extensive knowledge across EIS qualifying companies and helps build suitable portfolios for a diverse range of clients. Transparency is key to this offering, with the Portfolio consisting only of companies listed on a recognised stock exchange.

The Enterprise Investment Scheme was designed to help smaller companies raise finance by offering a range of tax relief to investors including gains free of Capital Gains Tax. There are currently hundreds of EIS qualifying companies covering a range of sectors, providing a breadth of exposure and diversity. Since inception to time of writing, Shard Capital's EIS portfolio has achieved a triple digit outperformance of AIM All Share index over the same period.
