As Butterfield’s deputy group head of trust, Paul Hodgson supports clients and intermediaries across numerous jurisdictions, providing them with access to various structures for wealth protection (including succession planning). He tells Spear’s that his clients value both his technical knowledge of structures and his ability to provide candid and accessible advice on their affairs.

Before moving to Guernsey – and entering the trust sector – in 1998, Hodgson spent 10 years with KPMG doing mostly insolvency work. It was an unusual change of direction, he says, but one which helps him offer a more specialised service to his clients – combining experience as an insolvency practitioner with more than two decades in wealth planning.
