Nice-born Laurence Mandrile-Aguirre found out she had a knack for UHNW client service in her first role at Citi’s Monaco branch. More than two decades later – and after experience in several other jurisdictions, including London – she now oversees the bank’s Swiss business from Geneva.

‘The more global and complex the clients, the more value we can add,’ says Mandrile-Aguirre, who finds the client-facing element of her role rewarding. ‘Especially when you build that trust over time and you become their first port of call.’

The pandemic and its consequences reshaped investors’ views and expectations, she notes. Clients feel that ‘longevity’ of wealth and investments is now more important than ever. Mandrile-Aguirre adds that Citi now has a track record in helping UHNWs find the most suitable sponsors for ventures such as SPACs and other unique investment opportunities.
