South African-born Bordeaux Index Founder and CEO Gary Boom has poured his innovative energy into the wine industry for the past 28 years.

Having gained his BSc in Finance from the University of Cape Town, Gary specialised in interest rate options for several London broking houses and was a director at Intercapital Group. This background inspired him to found Bordeaux Index in 1997.

The wine expert subsequently developed and launched LiveTrade, the global online wine trading platform in 2020 – to bring pricing transparency and trading liquidity to the fine wine market. LiveTrade recently won Trading Platform of the Year 2022 at the Drinks Business Awards (having previously won in both 2020 and 2021).
