‘What we are bringing to the market is greater efficiency,’ Nickel CEO and founding partner Anatoly Crachilov tells Spear’s. Nickel is the UK’s first FCA-regulated investment manager to specialise in digital assets and serves more than 25 family offices worldwide.

With a firm grounding in traditional finance (its staff include alumni from the likes of JP Morgan, Morgan Stanley, Merrill Lynch and Credit Suisse), Nickel says it deploys ‘highly sophisticated’ low-latency algorithmic trading, pursuing a range of arbitrage strategies, as well as a range of directional buy-and-hold products.

‘The idea was if we can use risk management of these funds in the right manner and manage them properly, everything else is easier to implement,’ says Crachilov, who describes the firm’s approach as ‘extremely conservative’.
