Spear’s Review

The Malay College Kuala Kangsar (MCKK) is Malaysia’s premier residential school for boys aged 12 to 17. It is one of only two boarding schools in the country that is under royal patronage, and it has been referred to as the ‘Eton of the East’ by some commentators.

The main building was built in 1910 in a pseudo-Greco-Roman architectural style, and looks out over the school’s playing fields.

MCKK aims to create a new generation of students who achieve academic excellence, and develop sound leadership skills and a strong sense of individuality. The school is a member of the Global Alliance of Leading-Edge Schools, which is led by the Raffles Institution Singapore.

Head teacher

Mohd Shahadan bin Abdul Rahman has been headmaster of MCKK since 2020.
