Spear’s Review

Founded in 1885 with the express purpose of providing girls’ education on an equal footing with the boys’ schools, Roedean has been instilling students with confidence and an inclusive spirit ever since.

In a beautiful coastal location just outside Brighton, the school is home to 600 girls, more than 300 of whom are full boarders. This is a school where girls can make some noise, take up space, explore and make decisions for themselves.

Appreciation of sport, culture, the arts and the opportunity to live a healthy life to the full are the foundations on which the school was built, and quite rightly it sees no reason to give them up.

Head teacher

Head Niamh Green has 20 years’ experience leading girls’ boarding schools, including as a French and German teacher, head of department, housemistress, deputy head and more recently as acting head. She holds an MBA from UCL and a PGCE from Cambridge University.
