The Beacon Collaborative is fundamentally a philanthropic advisory firm led by philanthropists. It was co-founded by Matthew Bowcock who now sits as chair on the board of trustees. His mission is to work with like-minded individuals to increase philanthropic donations and enhance impact. 

‘As wealth holders, we are seeking to encourage our peers to increase our annual charitable giving collectively by £2 billion,’ the firm’s website reads. It hopes to achieve this goal through two vehicles: the Philanthropists Council (a group of experienced philanthropists advising new donors) and the Organisations Council (a forum for leaders of organisations to collectively discuss how philanthropic pursuits can be supported in their sector). Through these mechanisms, Bowcock hopes to improve philanthropy — and the discourse around philanthropy — to better support projects and communities in need. 

Bowcock is also the chairman of UK Community Foundations and a trustee of The Philanthropy Workshop and Philanthropy Impact.
