Tom Best of The Auction Collective tells Spear's that his firm has benefited from his experience working at Christie's alongside his Chief Technology Officer's former role as head of engineering at Ebay. Together, the pair use their 'software and expertise to help charities, brands and individuals run their own professional auctions'. 

Following Best’s work as a Christie's auctioneer and Contemporary art specialist in addition to a stint working for charities raising money through art auctions, he sought to combine his 'twin passions for art and social good through The Auction Collective'. 

The company now offers a platform for individuals wanting to hold their own professional auctions thereby providing an alternative to the big auction houses. They have completed two investment rounds — the most recent of which Best says was 'to launch a new piece of auction tech to further support clients running independent and fully customisable auctions'.
