As managing director of Direct Bullion , Paul Withers is a passionate advocate of precious metals being part of any investor’s portfolio. His firm allows clients to purchase bullion bars, as well as loose and certified coins, all of which can be delivered to their home or stored in vaults. The latter are authorised by the Professional Standard for the Rare Coin Industry, which certifies and grades coins of any currency on a scale from one to 70.

Despite gold’s reputation as a slightly esoteric investment, Withers insists his door is open to those who know nothing about precious metals. ‘If you don’t know about gold, don’t worry. And if you have preconceived notions about gold, let them go,’ he tells Spear’s.
