Dr Paul Ettlinger is founder and medical director of The London General Practice, a clinic of 11 doctors and 30 staff on Harley Street offering a comprehensive service from initial GP appointments to referrals to an international network of specialists for onward care.
Dr Ettinger has particular interests in men’s health and preventative medicine, providing assessments for individuals and corporate clients. His paper on the importance of personal continuity in general practice was published in the British Medical Journal.
The practice aims to provide same-day appointments, lasting a minimum of 30 minutes to allow adequate time for a comprehensive, thorough and accurate personal health assessment.
‘We provide high quality, personal care,’ says Dr Paul Ettlinger, founder of The London General Practice. The practice is renowned for swift same-day appointments, with a focus on personal, individualised health care. Its 11 doctors provide a 24-hour general practice, with consultations lasting a minimum of 30 minutes. This allows adequate time for a comprehensive, thorough and accurate personal health assessment. Our location on Harley Street allows us access to world-class laboratories, diagnostic and scanning facilities.
‘General practice is about competence, availability, and affability,’ Dr Ettlinger says. ‘We count royal families, celebrities and corporations among our patients. CEOs and HNWs are used to controlling things, but their health is different. We guide them, providing personal care and helping them with their medical problems.’
The practice has considerable experience in working with large organisations, offering a tailored service based on the requirements of a particular industry or profession.
Patients access a global network of doctors in the US, UAE, Hong Kong and India. ‘We provide excellence across the globe,’ says Ettlinger. It’s also planning to expand its doctor-led health concierge service to include other Asian territories and Australasia too. It is important for the practice to develop personal, meaningful relationships with all patients. Its preventative healthcare service includes general health screening, to address gender-specific health concerns.
The practice provides 24-hour, on-call care for patients, as well as guests of the five-star London hotels, such as Claridge’s, The Berkeley, The Connaught, The Savoy and Four Seasons. Appointments can also be requested at home, work premises, ‘any time day or night, weekdays, weekends, 365 days a year’. The practice provides health screening based on the latest evidence-based guidance, with access to the latest scanning including 3T MRI, 360 CT, stress echo, PET scans and PET amyloid scans. The philosophy of the practice is to research all state-of-the-art technology and treatments, including a review of stem cell and gene therapies.
A recent inspection by the CQC UK regulatory body found that ‘patients described the care as excellent and having made a significant contribution to their health and well-being,’ the practice reveals.
Dr Ettlinger is a fellow of the Royal College of General Practitioners and holds a Postgraduate Diploma in Obstetrics and Gynaecology and in Occupational Health. His interests lie in quality of care, preventative medicine and men’s health. He has previous experience as a lecturer at Imperial College, London. He has written a number of papers, including one of the importance of personal and continuity of care in general practice, which has been published in the British Medical Journal.
