Depth and breadth is the stock-in-trade at Wilkinson Vintners, which deals mainly in Bordeaux but also covers Burgundy, Champagne, the Rhône and vintage port. The firm aims to sell ‘the right wines at the right price’. Director Paul Bowker joined the firm 21 years ago from Christie’s, where he led the auction house’s wine department.

Sourcing its wine from private sellers or at auction, the company has now established a reputation as a favourite for HNWs. ‘We have two challenges – selling the wine and, more importantly, maintaining our stock levels,’ says Bowker. ‘So when someone comes along with several hundred cases of really top-quality wine worth that amount of money, it makes life a lot easier.’
