Michael Baumhauer’s experience can’t be questioned. Previously an in-house lawyer with megayacht specialists Blohm+Voss, he’s now head of practice area projects at international law firm Taylor Wessing, where he helps UHNWs (and their suppliers) on megayacht new-builds, conversions, refits and repair projects – such as Roman Abramovich’s 162.5-metre M/Y Eclipse, the second-biggest superyacht in the world.

‘With a bespoke megayacht,’ he says, ‘it’s not only about the purchase, but leading the HNW client through what is a very technically complex construction project that can last for 24 to 36 months on average’.
