Mark Stephens of Howard Kennedy says he was ‘tricked into being a lawyer’ by the manager of Pink Floyd, who was lodging in his family home when he was growing up. ‘He’s now a multi-billionaire and I’m a poor lawyer eking out an income,’ he jokes.

High-profile clients include Harvey Weinstein’s ex-assistant Zelda Perkins and Julian Assange as well as the governments of Jamaica, Libya, Mauritius, and the Russian Republic.

He remains at the top of his game: his broad practice includes constitutional, human rights, IP, media and regulatory work, defamation, privacy, media, art and cultural property, data protection and freedom of information, trusts litigation, intellectual property, and international arbitration disputes. He was appointed CBE in 2011.
