Gregarious former Coldstream Guard and vice president at Highgate James Monckton completed a frontline combat tour to Afghanistan before playing a senior role in the ministry of defence’s discreet information, communications and influence efforts to combat violent extremism in the Middle East. He has also taken part in a frontline tour to Iraq and Syria.

Monckton has been in the private sector since 2018, but his work remains informed by many of the techniques and insights garnered during his military career. He contrasts the short-termist ‘battle’ mentality of certain reputation management agencies with a more favourable long-term approach that treats a relationship with a client as an ongoing campaign.

His specialisms include opinion and reputation management, litigation communications, crisis management, information control and countering disinformation.

Monckton graduated from the University of Sydney in Australia, and from the Royal Military Academy, Sandhurst.
