Henrietta Ronson

Spear’s Review

Henrietta Ronson deals with a ‘varied portfolio’ of private client cases spanning the full range of criminal and regulatory law.

The Simons Muirhead Burton partner’s casebook comprises elite sports stars, musicians, property tycoons, investment bankers and doctors. ‘I have the best job in the world,’ she enthuses. ‘I love that each day comes with a fresh new challenge.’

Her clients are often dealing with questioning from regulatory bodies including the Financial Conduct Authority and HMRC, or are tangled up in investigations by the Serious Fraud Office. She also has experience helping media clients involved in the fallout of potential phone-hacking crimes.

Crisis management also forms a significant part of Ronson’s practice: she is adept at handling sensitive cases, often involving PR and reputation management specialists.

Adviser Profile

The partner has built an eclectic portfolio comprising Premier League footballers, musicians, property tycoons, investment bankers and doctors. She is often instructed to assist at an early stage, representing people from the point of their initial arrest and detention. She is increasingly instructed to represent international clients whose UK bank accounts have been frozen.

Some of her proudest moments in the recent past include advising the partner in a leading law firm who was up against the combined forces of the FBI, the IRS and the DOJ over allegations of international fraud and money laundering conspiracy, successfully defending a 74-year-old retiree at the centre of an SFO prosecution for corruption within the oil and gas industry in the Middle East and persuading the police to discontinue proceedings in a case concerning serious allegations against a young Oxbridge University student.

She is proud of Simons Muirhead Burton’s track record and says that the firm has ‘forged an enviable reputation for standing up for the rights of the individual. The firm started in the 1970s and has grown dramatically over the years to become a full-service firm while retaining the same core values. We are very forward-thinking and put a premium on immediately identifying the correct strategy and our client’s position.’
