Dominic Bulfin is a director in Bargate Murray’s superyacht group, where he advises owners and their intermediaries on all aspects of superyacht ownership and management.
Bulfin’s practice is broad. He handles the practical matters that arise from ownership, covering everything from negotiations of new builds to refit contracts, purchase agreements and charter agency agreements. Project experience includes the design and construction of ‘some of the largest new-builds in the superyacht fleet’ to the ‘complex modification and repurposing of older vessels’. He’s also called upon to offer his support in real-time to captains and yacht managers.
A lifelong sailor, Bulfin understands the realities of life on water, and frequently applies his personal experience as both an owner and charterer to offer clients ‘practical, pragmatic, and realistic’ advice.
As legal representative and trusted advisor to HNWs, UHNWs and their representatives, Dom's superyacht practice includes the negotiation of new build and refit contracts, interior design contracts, contracts for the purchase of toys, tenders and lifeboats, sale and purchase agreements and sale and charter agency agreements, as well as matters relating to the employment of seafarers and operational staff.
Having spent the early years of his career working at Hill Dickinson and Clyde & Co, Dom's Tier 1 commercial maritime experience sets him apart from most superyacht lawyers. The knowledge Dom developed in the earlier years of his career working in commercial maritime disputes and trade finance underpins his work in the superyacht sector.
Dom is well known in the superyacht sector and often asked to speak at industry events and seminars. Through his connections in the industry, Dom has been instrumental in helping others find each other and work together. Often called upon to offer real-time support for Captains and yacht managers, Dom is always available to advise on matters requiring immediate attention which arise onboard.
Dom's recent experience includes the construction of several of the largest yachts currently in build and the sale and purchase of some of the highest value yachts in the superyacht fleet.
With an undergraduate degree in Conservation Biology and Ecology, Dom has a keen interest in the preservation of marine ecosystems and sustainable use of the World's waters for recreational purposes. This passion spills into his practice as he works to raise awareness of the importance of sustainable yachting and bring together like minded superyacht professionals to drive change.
