Christopher Bogart is the CEO and co-founder of Burford Capital, the company that made headlines in the family law world for supporting Tatiana Akhmedova in her bitter fight against her ex-husband – a high-profile case that became known for a £453 million award to Akhmedova, which is believed to be the largest of its kind in history.

Bogart commented on the case, which he believes is an example of how legal finance can help ‘achieve equality in the court’. He wrote in an online post, ‘When the rich and powerful believe that those laws are only for the little people and don’t apply to them, our system of laws and order breaks down.’

Before co-founding Burford in 2009, he held senior positions across tech and media companies including Time Warner. He also has experience as a trial lawyer and an investment banker early in his career.
