Alex Bowden, a partner at Evelyn Partners, trained at the Fleming family’s private asset management boutique before it was taken over by Chase Manhattan, which later became part of JP Morgan.

At this juncture he moved to NCL in 2001 and continued working with UHNW clients within a boutique offering. Smith & Williamson merged with NCL a year later; a welcome development for Bowden. 

‘I’m very lucky to have had the last 20 years at Smith & Williamson (now Evelyn Partners), which has very much sustained a platform for a very high standard for client service,’ he tells Spear’s. 

Bowden has emerged to become a leading UHNW wealth manager within the firm and is proud of the fact that he is able to combine client service with investment management. ‘The client sees the positive in being able to talk directly to the person managing their money – having one point of contact makes life easier for them.’
