‘I have a holistic, biological and cognitive-behavioural approach to mental health,’ says consultant psychiatrist Alberto Pertusa from the London Psychiatry Clinic. ‘This means I see mental health problems emerging from a combination of factors including biology, genetics, upbringing, psychological tendencies and our environment.’

Dr Pertusa undertook his medical studies in Spain, before completing master’s degrees in affective neuroscience at Maastricht University (Netherlands) and research methodology in health science at the Autonomous University of Barcelona. He completed his PhD thesis at the Institute of Psychiatry, King’s College London in 2010. He has published more than 30 articles in peer-reviewed scientific publications and has been an associate editor of the Spanish Journal of Psychology, edited by Cambridge University.
