Guy’s and St Thomas’ consultant Melita Irving has varied experience researching complex genetics, which she has studied in extensive clinical trials. She specialises in treating and diagnosing chromosomal disorders and genetic conditions.

Her 15-year career has seen her establish a range of clinics relating to both paediatric and adult conditions. She previously oversaw the medical genetics section of the Royal Society of Medicine between 2016 and 2019. In 2011, she was awarded the International Skeletal Dysplasia Society Maroteaux prize.

Previously, she researched the condition at the Royal Children’s Hospital in Melbourne, before overseeing clinical trials with children affected by skeletal dysplasia.
