A stunning 16th century Italian palazzo set on 18 waterfront acres on the legendary Lake Como, Villa Pliniana boasts 17 bedrooms, a private boat dock and a helicopter landing pad, alongside its spa and vast gardens.

The private estate is part of Sereno Hotels, an ultra high-end hotel group under the supervision of general manager Samy Ghachem.

Moving to Lake Como from St Barths (where the group operates villas and a hotel) in 2016, Ghachem tells Spear’s that he tries to welcome every guest and learn what they are looking for.

‘We are not here to dictate the meaning of luxury,’ he says. ‘It is our job to best understand what this means to the guest and how best to meet their expectations.’
