Spear's Review
When Simon Larkin says he got ‘side-tracked by wine’, it's less a euphemism and more a description of his career. Instead of pursuing a City trade, he spent 14 years advising HNWs on their fine wine collections before founding Atlas Wines in 2010. The firm provides private clients seeking expert advice on collecting wines with the leverage of deep market knowledge and international networks.
The Atlas team offers clients a truly personal service. ‘We’re able to take someone from fairly early days, build their confidence and guide them to gradually understand what they’re looking to achieve,’ Larkin says.
Adviser Profile
Simon Larkin MW is the founder of Atlas Fine Wines who is a Master of Wine and winner of the Madame Bollinger Medal for tasting excellence.
Atlas’ core business provides a discreet, personal service to HNWs, ‘whether they’re building a portfolio for consumption or investment’. Unusually over 90 per cent of private client sales are made on a one-to-one basis by their 15-person team. ‘Understanding the client is central to our business as we tailor our advice to suit their needs’ says founder Larkin, who has a very loyal following of clients.
The secret to success is perhaps the fact that Larkin is still so hands-on. He remains only ever a phone call away with many of his clients speaking with him several times a week.
