‘We have a deliberately low ratio of clients per adviser to provide a personalised service compared to other places that have more clients and less time,’ says Mark Sullivan, who looks after around 15 families with Stonehage Fleming. 

The family office group’s emphasis is firmly on succession planning — a niche service which could only exist on the back of the skills and attention to detail of such trusted advisers as Sullivan. He is now a partner at Stonehage, having previously led similar operations for UK-based families, individuals and charities at both Rathbones and UBS. 

A chartered fellow of the CISI, he was director of Buckland Capital Partners, a single family office, before joining Stonehage Fleming in 2013.
