Inga Verbeeck is the founder of Ivy Relations, a matchmaking company whose typical clients are worth £20 million, with offices in Antwerp, New York and Geneva.

‘We are a service provider that saves people time,’ she says, ‘and time is the only commodity that you cannot buy.’

Since 2011, Ivy Relations has helped more than 300 couples tie the knot. When Spear’s lastmet Verbeeck, the firm had 900 ‘active members’ (out of a pool of 3,000) and had ambitions to increase that number to 5,000 – at which point the firm would be nearing a turnover of £100 million. ‘The fact of the matter is that it is a proper business, a real business,’ she says.
