Hong Kong is one of Julius Baer’s two major booking centres in Asia and David Shick runs the office's client-facing side. Some 50 per cent of his client-base is accounted for by UHNWs, a further 30 per cent are HNWs and the remainder are ‘affluent’. ‘We’ve been very successful in this market,’ he says.

Shick believes that periods of significant financial upheaval have 'made relationship managers more productive,' but market fundamentals remain unchanged. 'A low interest rate environment and plenty of liquidity, all driven by new tech products – these are things that will continue to be attractive to financial investors.’
