Spear’s Review

Established in 1882, Brillantmont International School is one of the oldest boarding schools in Switzerland and has been owned by the same family for five generations. This small, personalised and family-focused school in Lausanne offers IGCSE and A-Levels as well as the High School Diploma programme.

Its academic programme is internationally recognised and the small class sizes – averaging 15 pupils – allows for the individual needs of each student to be met. The school’s exam success goes hand-in-hand with a nurturing environment and an inclusive approach to sport, music, art and drama. Pupils can also learn sculpture, photography, digital design, journalism and various musical instruments.

Head teacher

In 2019 Anne Frei became head of school, the fifth generation of her family to lead Brillantmont.

Admissions

According to the school:

Brillantmont International School takes a holistic approach to reviewing the application of every candidate. In addition to academic achievements, the school looks for candidates who are open-minded and will thrive in an international community. Families are asked to complete an online registration form and then send the rest of the completed forms via email. Prospective students will come to the school for a visit and to be interviewed in person, or will be interviewed over Zoom. This is very important and can take place before or after sending in the various admissions documents.

University and college places

100 per cent of students continue to higher education, including Russell Group universities in the UK.
