Spear’s Review

With its roots stretching back to 1868, Lahore’s Aitchison College is one of Pakistan’s finest educational institutions. Its alumni include former prime minister and sportsman Imran Khan, who played cricket at the school as a young boy.

Spread over a 200-acre campus, the school offers extensive grounds including three riding fields, where students can practice showjumping and arena polo, as well as 18 tennis courts, nine cricket grounds and a diving centre. Priding itself in the late 1800s as an educator of ‘princely elites’, the Aitchison College of today provides a vibrant and broad international curriculum.

Head teacher

Australian Michael Thomson is the 18th Principal of Aitchison College. With extensive experience in international education and a strong boarding background, he believes in a broad and challenging school experience for every boy, according to the school’s website.

Admissions

According to the school:

Aitchison College admits boys on the basis of academic and general suitability. The application process must be completed before a boy is considered an eligible candidate. Applications may only be made for one of the two enrolment categories (boarding or day) and not both.

University and college places

Aitchison boys regularly gain admission to Oxbridge and Russell Group universities, Ivy League and other prestigious institutions. In the past five years, the college has secured seven admissions each at Harvard and Stanford.
