Based at Julius Baer’s UAE office in Dubai, Andrey Draganov is a managing director senior adviser and a senior relationship manager within the Swiss bank’s Middle East operations.

Draganov works closely with UHNW clients, and he is finding that wealth planning is becoming a crucial theme in the Gulf. ‘A private banker is supposed to be kind of a trusted adviser,’ he says of the popularity of a holistic view of wealth, which goes beyond looking at picking bonds and equities for portfolios.

The Bulgaria-born private banker fell in love with the industry in Geneva, where he studied a masters in finance at the University of Geneva. He joined Julius Baer in 2017 to help the bank build its Middle East expertise within the DIFC to expand its relationship management offering in the region. A believer that Geneva is the spiritual home of private banking, Draganov says his clients have faith in ‘Swiss quality’ when it comes to their wealth.
