Victoria Dean is chief executive of Portland Communications, having returned to the firm after some time away working for Google as their Global Public Policy Director.

Dean spent 20 years in the British diplomatic service, culminating in her role as high commissioner of the Eastern Caribbean. At Portland, she leads a team of 300 communications professionals in offices around Europe, the US and Asia working on management of politics, policy and media. She is fascinated by public policy and business.

‘There’s no business operating in the UK or anywhere in the world that isn’t increasingly affected by government legislation,’ she has said. ‘Mostly what business wants to do is get on [with things].’
