Annabel’s Syafiera Rosidi is one of the rare women sommeliers in the world of cigars, where Spear’s has, in recent years, seen a slow but noticeable uptick in female following. A biomedical science graduate, Rosidi joined The Birley Clubs in 2019 and previously had worked at the Art School Restaurant in Liverpool as a sommelier.

A master of Havana Cigars, Rosidi counts the Juan Lopez No.2, the Montecristo 80th Aniversario and the Por Larrañaga Montecarlos among her favourites. But she warns against recommendations of the ‘best’ cigar that one might hear, emphasising that everyone’s palate is different. For beginners, her advice is clear and sagacious, as told to an industry observer: ‘Start light, and work your way up.’
